We will be joining with thousands of people nationwide to walk in AFSP's Out of the Darkness Community Walk to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and we would appreciate any support that you give for this worthwhile cause.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is at the forefront of research, education and prevention initiatives designed to reduce loss of life from suicide. With more than 33,000 lives lost each year in the U.S. and over one million worldwide, the importance of AFSP's mission has never been greater, nor our work more urgent.

Any contribution will help the work of AFSP, and all donations are 100% tax deductible.

Donating online is safe and easy! To make an online donation please search for one of the participants and then click the "Support This Participant" button on their page.

Donations can only be made to individuals, but the total each participant raises goes toward our team goal.
 E-mail NLL@berkeleycollege.edu with any questions!

Attend our supporting events throughout the month starting with The Truth About Suicide. Click here to RSVP.

Rock the Vote!

Hi Everyone! Jasmine Lee Henderson here, Fashion Blogger for Berkeley College! Check out my blog here!

Are you a student?

If you answered yes then this is all the reason you need to pay attention to the election.  Although you might have not voted before it is not too late to get out and make a difference this election. The most common excuse “My vote doesn’t count” is false because it does; you have the power to voice your opinion and be a part of change.

Reasons To Vote:

Being a student puts you in the Education Demographic, which means anything that happens in that area involves you. Higher interest rates on loans, the rising price of tuition and cutting federal funds towards education does affect your future.

These are just two reasons to get you thinking about voting. To learn more about why you need to vote we encourage you to do your research:

  • Internet basic search
  • RocktheVote.com
  • Your school
  • Tuning in to local news
  • Newspapers

Your vote does count and you have a chance to make a difference. You're not just a number. You're being a part of change.

Disclaimer: These are my personal opinions and do not reflect the views of Berkeley College.

Share why YOU care about hunger

So, you care about hunger. That’s great! But, have you told anybody? We want you to tell the world WHY you care.

Maybe you care because 1 out of every 7 people in the world will go to bed hungry tonight. Maybe you care because hunger is something you are all too familiar with. Maybe you care because you believe that together we can make a difference and end hunger. Whatever your reason is, we want you to join the Why Care? Campaign and tell the world why YOU care about hunger. We’re trying to get 10,000 photos by World Food Day on October 16th. Tweet your photo to @whycare_ and @ufwhdotorg #WC2012 or upload your photo to the Universities Fighting World Hunger Facebook page.

It may seem like a small act, but we believe that when people come together, their small acts can create a movement that can make change the world. Join us in starting a conversation around the globe, and tell the world why YOU care about hunger.

Click here to sign up for Why Care? updates and learn more about the campaign.
