The Overnight Out of the Darkness Walk in Washington DC

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's Out of the Darkness Overnight is a walk like no other. It's a 16-18 mile journey through the night, from dusk until dawn where a courageous community of men and women like you will break the silence and bring the issues of depression and suicide into the light.

On Saturday, June 4, 2011-Sunday June, 5, 2011, Nicole Luthman, Professor Giammarie Pieri and her husband, and students Pollyana Chadee and Edwin Gomez walked 18 miles from sunset to sunrise in the AFSP Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The team raised over $3,600 for suicide prevention.

#26Acts of Kindness

Wouldn't it be nice if the world were just a little bit kinder? What better way to honor the memory of those lost than to treat everyone you meet with a little extra kindness?

So let's get going! Here's how:

  1. Do at least 26 acts of kindness January 7-February 4
  2. Take a photo or write a few words about your act. Tweet it to @BerkeleyCollege so we can hear about all the great things you are doing. Remember to use the #26Acts hash tag to join the millions of others who are taking kindness by storm! Don't have Twitter? Email your SDCL Director using the email above and we'll Tweet it for you!

At the end of the campaign, we will compile your tweets, photos, and stories into a featured blog post and newsletter to show all the amazing things our community has done.

Here are some great ideas to get you started:
