- 2608 Berkeley College students were involved in community service/volunteering/civic engagement activities facilitated by the College during the 2011-2012 academic year
- These 2608 students donated approximately 11,863 volunteer hours to organizations in and for causes important to the communities surrounding all Berkeley College locations.
- During this same period, 161 Berkeley College students were enrolled in Academic Service Learning courses (volunteer hours not tracked).
- The following issue areas were addressed by community service/volunteering/civic engagement activities and service learning experiences during the 2011-2012 academic year: access and success in higher education; animal welfare; crime/criminal justice; disability issues; economic development; environment/sustainability issues; global citizenship; health care; HIV/AIDS; housing/homelessness; hunger; legal aid; poverty; reading/writing; senior/elder services; sexual assault; voting, and; veterans’ resources and support for active duty military and military families.
