2013 Cystic Fibrosis Sports Challenge at MetLife Stadium
Team Berkeley College participated in the 2013 Cystic Fibrosis Sports Challenge at MetLife Stadium. The team was welcomed back again this year and on a mission to help this fund raiser succeed in finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis!
Our goal was to come in the top 25% of the overall teams. There were 24 teams total competing. Team Berkeley College came in 4th place! One of the challenges for the event was "Tug-of-War" which we actually won overall. We stayed positive throughout the entire event and we worked together at every obstacle which lifted our spirits up and was what kept our strong competitive pace. We've been practicing for the past two months and we definitely showed an improvement from last year.
Says team member Vicky Torunidis, Adult Admissions Administrative Assistant at Paramus, "We can only hope we get the chance to do this again next year because our team members have been raving to me about how psyched they are to get the chance to be part of something so fun and yet for such a worthy cause all at the same time. I am so proud of all my team members as they gave me more than what I asked for - even when they thought they had nothing left. There was doubt within the stadium that we would not succeed in the ultimate challenge, but the camaraderie within the team overpowered their doubt. We may not have placed in the top 3, but we all walked out of the stadium that day as winners with our heads held up high. Until next year, we own bragging rights for the "Tug-of-War" challenge."
